We are a small team of four, who are here to help and support YOU with your award.
Let’s meet the Graduate+ Team!
Nikhara Korpal: Graduate+ Project Officer | Amelia Rose: Graduate+ Project Officer
Hello everyone! I am Nikhara, I have recently graduated at BCU in Media and Communication. | Hi, I am Amelia and I work in the Graduate+ team. I am a recent BCU graduate in Business Management (class of 2020).
In my course, it was exciting meeting new people and enhancing my media skills. I loved using the university’s media equipment available and television studios to develop my knowledge. | I have worked within the education sector in support and professional services roles for six years, supporting students throughout their education journey. I really do enjoy it. I love working in education and supporting and inspiring young people.
It has been incredible attending different societies, my favourite was the Krishna Consciousness Society. It focuses on spirituality and the deeper meaning of life. I would definitely recommend joining a society whilst you are at university, it’s a great way to meet other students who have similar interests to you. | I am the eldest of three children, and have a brother (who is now taller than me) and a sister who is studying towards her BSc Nursing degree. Outside of education and employment, I am involved in youth work at my local church and lead the Audio Visuals team to support services in a digital capacity.
Now, I am working in the Graduate+ team as a Project Officer where I will be working on wonderful projects and supporting you throughout the award. | My aspirations are to get back into sports, develop my French speaking skills and to continue learning to play the piano/keyboard.
Fun fact: I have worked as a Production Runner on high profile productions: The Apprentice, Great British Menu, XFactor and Little Mix the Search! | Fun Fact: I used to be able to play the violin alongside the keyboard and drums when I was younger. |
Lesley Taylor: BCU Graduate+ Programme Lead | Jack Hogan: Graduate+ Centre Manager
I have extensive experience within private and public settings. I have worked within Careers Education & Guidance supporting young people and adults within Community and Education. | I graduated with a BA (Hons) Media & Communication (Radio) at Birmingham City University in 2017 and since then I have worked as a Graduate+ Project Officer in 2017/18 academic year and now as Graduate+ Centre Manager.
I transitioned to Higher Education from the Connexions agenda bringing a passion to continue to impact life-wide student aspirations and learning. I previously held trustee position of Youth Homeless Charity and School Governor focusing on performance & achievement. | I am passionate about supporting and engaging students in extra-curricular activities to enhance student experience and I am interested in First Year Experience and employability initiatives.
Currently, I am the Lead University Enactus Adviser and Curator of TEDxBirminghamCityUniversity. | In my spare time, I love to put my degree into practice and speak on community radio playing a variety of music and talking about anything and everything.
I am passionate about life and supporting people in moving forward in whatever forward means for them as an individual. Life is short and it is important to live our best lives. | As I am passionate about all things education, I also undertook a volunteering position as a School Governor at a local primary school.
Fun fact about you: I am proud to have walked on both Fire and Glass and lived to tell the tale! I am an ever-optimist, passionate about people and curious just about everything, this often gets me into trouble – eek. My kids think I am a quirky ‘old’ girl who lives life like every day is my last, I try, but not always possible, but I do have a lot of fun! | Fun Fact: I have interviewed many people on the radio including Actor & Author Henry Winkler OBE (Twice in fact! 2010 & 2012), Sir Lenny Henry, Chancellor of Birmingham City University and when I was 10, the Lord Mayor….well we thought he was the lord Mayor but turns out it was his car driver. |
