Today we wanted to take the opportunity to highlight a pretty awesome & creative area of the city, it’s located a short 10-15 minute walk from campus and has something to tempt just about everyone. As soon as you arrive in Birmingham you’ll hear people speaking about their favourite areas & places, somewhere that comes up time and time again is the creative quarter of Digbeth.

Here we highlight some of the top places you can visit, and although some of these may currently be closed due to COVID-19, it’s never too early to start planning your next trip…

The Custard Factory

Sitting right at the heart of Digbeth is the Custard Factory, it really is something you need to see in person. It’s a shopping venue, creative hub and office space all rolled into one. We highly recommend the deli that you’ll always see busy called Yumm, it serves organic freshly cooked dishes daily.

If you’re into arts and culture there are also a wide range of independent stores and boutiques for you to check out within the factory, from skateboards to vinyl’s and even a vintage hair parlour, there is something for all tastes.

Check out further information via the website here.

Mockingbird Cinema & Kitchen

Next up we have the legendary Mockingbird Cinema, located right in the heart of Digbeth. If you haven’t already been, it’s an independent cinema and kitchen, which FYI, serves yummy food too, with a different feel to what you’d get in bigger chains.

Although an opening date isn’t visible on the website just yet, this gives you plenty of time to check out the upcoming film releases and plan your trip.

Don’t forget the pick n mix!

Ghetto Golf Birmingham

Next up located within Digbeth and a MUST visit if you’re over 18 is Ghetto Golf – this is an indoor crazy golf course, but with a difference. The venue is reopening again from July 4th and booking as always will be essential, with times spaced out more to comply with social distancing guidelines.

If you’re into neon you’ll be in heaven here, you’ll navigate neon buses, lights, partake in a cocktail or just see if you can beat your friends on the course, there is something for everyone and it’s great if the British weather isn’t that bright too.

Original Patty Men

If you ask someone for a Birmingham burger recommendation you will most definitely hear about Original Patty Men, one of the most famous burger restaurants, not just in the city, but even internationally too.

Currently, the restaurant is operating at delivery only, so if you live within the city or in the surrounding areas you may be able to get it via Uber Eats depending on your exact location, this is a great time to try one of the worst kept secrets in the city.

Find out more about future opening times & delivery here.

Digbeth Dining Club

Last but not least in our top recommendations for visiting Digbeth is the iconic and well known Digbeth Dining Club, it’s now offering a click and collect service so you can still get your food fix, what could be better?

It operates as a street food market, filled with vendors from all sorts of different cultures, from Vietnamese to American & Spanish to some yummy deserts… are you ready to take your taste buds to new daring heights?

You can find out more information about future dining clubs and the new click & collect service via the website here.
