Now the summer is in full swing we wanted to give you some fun options of days out you can take in Birmingham and the wider West Midlands. Now lockdown restrictions are being lifted throughout the UK many attractions are now opening with social distancing regulations in place. So if you want a little adventure, check out some of our top recommendations of where you can go over the coming months!
West Midlands Safari Park
If you want to feel like you’ve been transported to a faraway exotic destination this summer we have a great pick for you. West Midlands Safari Park is located in Bewdley within Worcestershire, which is approximately a 45 minute drive away, but trust us, you can make a day of it with all of the different animals and areas the park has for you to explore.

Sea Life Centre Birmingham
Next up we have the Birmingham Sea Life Centre that is also opening up again from 4th July onwards to the general public, pre booking a ticket will be essential.
If you’ve never visited before now is a great time, with over 60 displays of marine life throughout, it’s something to behold and will be fun for both adults and youngsters alike.

Dudley Zoo
Next up we have the iconic Dudley Zoo, Castle & Gardens, located a short 30 minute drive from the city centre. There is over 40 acres of open space to explore, plus you can even save money by taking a picnic and socially distance in the vast grounds, it’s always a popular spot with families and adults alike during the summer months.
There is something for everyone, you can climb up the ruins of the castle, visit the orang-utans, one of them is named Benjamin, along with checking out the different enclosures, including big cats, flamingos, penguins & parrots to name just a few.

Black Country Living Museum
Although it’s not opening to the public until 1st August at the earliest, we had to include the Black Country Living Museum within our list of the top attractions. The good news is that it’s right across the road from Dudley Zoo that we mentioned above, another short 30 minute car journey from Birmingham.
There really is something for everyone here, from going down the mines to taking part in a canal trip into the caves, or one of the most popular options, buying some of the area’s best fish & chips, the queues are big for a reason!
You can ride on a vintage bus, take part in a realistic Edwardian school lesson, play some old fashioned street games & check out some of the old fashioned shops, the sweet & confectionary one has to be our favourite.

Birmingham Botanical Gardens
Last but not least for our top list of Birmingham attractions for you to visit this summer is the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. It’s now open again to members of the public, but you will need to book a time slot via the website to ensure not too many people are arriving at one time.
The gardens are simply beautiful, it’s like a little inner city escape that’s located right in the heart of the city within Edgbaston. You can take a picnic, enjoy the grounds and check out some of the beautiful plants & exotic areas, you really won’t feel like you’re in Birmingham anymore and is more of a relaxing afternoon recommendation.
